When it rains, it pours....

Confirmation that I am doing the right thing by dropping my SU demonstratorship came by way of another medical emergency. I came home from work yesterday to find the ambulance (and 2 fire trucks) in front of my house. I admit that I lost it. Five ambulance visits to our house since May and we are all a bit traumatized. Sadly, my mom broke her hip. Her kidney function is bad and they operate on the hip tomorrow. Life goes on and we take care of each other as best we can -- sometimes one faultering step at a time.

  1. Hang in there! I can't imagine how tough it must be right now. If nothing else, at least you do have confirmation of your decision. Praying for your peace of mind that that your mother is feeling better soon.

  3. Hi, Joan. Coming out of lurkdom to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your mother and your family right now. I hope the surgery goes smoothly and that her recovery time is swift and as pain and complication-free as possible. I'm glad that you finally found the "confirmation" you have been looking for regarding your SU demonstartorship, I just wish it could've been another sign... as do you and as does your Mom, I'm sure!

You were one of the few over at SCS who responded to some of my first threads over there and I appreciate(d) your kind words. Just wanted to say thank you for that and to hang in there!

  8. Sending thoughts and prayers your way. I know from experience there is something particularly wrenching about watching your own mother go through these things. Deep down, we always think our moms should be invincible. My heart goes out to you and your family.

  9. (((JOAN))) My thoughts are with you and your family. I know what you are going through. My grandma lived with us. My parents took care of her. I know the feeling of coming home and having fire & ambulance there. They came to our house too many times to count. Hang in there and I hope your mom does well with her surgery.
