Mom in Action!
My mom decided today would be the day she would try and get her hair done -- wow, what a difference a permanent and set made. My mom has very fine, sparse hair, and her poor health made it even worse. So today off we went and here's a few pics of her "new do." This follows upon the very successful Wednesday, when she amazed herself by going into the grocery store and picking up her own drugs from the pharmacy. Such a small thing -- the kind of activity most of us take for granted, but she was thrilled.
This little bit of freedom has Mom Gone Wild!! She's eating better, isn't in bed waiting to die (her words) and is smiling again. Best of all, she hasn't complained about her aches and pains, mentioned her medicines, or any other "health talk" ALL DAY!! Of course, she can't drive or go out without her trusty walker, but these are all very positive developments. (She tried carrying the walker up the 3 stairs into our house today, but that's another story.... (teenagers and the eldery have a LOT in common!!). So, for all of you who send her cards and write to me about her -- especially Liz in New Jersey!! (card a week!!), here's a few pictures to put a face to the name. Oh, Mom's name is Helen.
Tell your mom she's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pictures and have a wonderful holiday season!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the pictures of your Mom. What a lovely lady! It's awesome that she was able to get her hair done and to walk in and get her own meds. It's unbelievable what a little independence can do.
