What's Black & White And Worth $50???

Your winning entry in my new Black & White contest! The rules (yes, I'm a lawyer and there MUST be rules!): 1. Your entry must be a card. If it is not the standard A2 size (5 1/2 x 4 1/4), provide the correct size. 2. List all materials used. You may list your materials on your comment or they can simply be listed on your blog, gallery, etc. 3. You must use at least one stamp. 4. Keeping with the 2007 trends (as of course, your faithful blogger MUST do), your card must be Black and White and/or Cream. A smidgeon of another color is allowed as an accent but not necessary. So, to be clear the card must have black. It must have white and/or cream. It may have a smidgeon of another color. Don't ask me what smidgeon means. A touch, an accent, a whatever. You get the drift? The red ribbon on this card is a smidgeon. 5. Provide a link to your card on line on this post only by adding a comment to this post and including a link in that comment. It will not function as a hyper-link, meaning the reader will have to cut and paste the link into a browser. Once the deadline has passed, I'll post a message with a hypelink to all the entries so you can see them all without having to do the cut and paste thing! If you don't already have a gallery, there are many free places to start one Splitcoaststampers Simply Sentiments Picture Trail or your own blog here at Blogger. 6. You may submit only one card -- it can be one you posted on line 3 years ago or one you made just for this contest. 7. If you are PAID to design papercrafts for a living -- you receive free products to use to make designs for a company or you receive cash (lucky devil!!), you are NOT eligible. If all you do by way of earning things with papercrafts is submit cards and win contests, you may enter. If you are a demo, that's ok. I'm trying to remove the professionals from the contest so us amateurs have a fighting chance!! 8. If you are Liz (RedApron) or Me or related to ME you are NOT eligible. (More on why I'm kicking out Liz in a minute) (oh, none of my relatives stamp, but I can just see them starting!). 9. Entries MUST be posted ON THIS POST no later than 9 pm Friday February 16th 2007 (gives you lots of time to tear up your mistakes!! -- you should see my craft room...). Late entries may be wonderful but will not be considered. 10. Entries will be judged on 4 criteria: 1. Did you follow these rules??? (if not, you are out); 2. Overall Design; 3. Craftsmanship, and 4. Originality. The Judges? My Husband and I are the judges. I will not be looking at any entries until the bitter end!! 11. There will be a second prize!!! Enough with the lawyer talk, what's the First Prize???? A 50$ gift certificate to be used with Liz (Redapron on splitcoast). Liz is an SU demo and you may redeem your certificate with her to purchase any SU goodies you want! You must redeem the certificate no later than April 15, 2007. Why am I sending Liz $50 so you can win something? First, as my most loyal blogettes know, Liz is amazing -- she's been sending my Mom and me cards almost every week for the last few months and I've never met this woman. Really, Liz, it is getting embarrassing!!! She's a sweetie. So, I wanted to throw some business her way. And, why am I offering 50 bucks to one of you guys? I'm now lying down on the virtual therapist's couch here -- you bring meaning to my life and I talk about the blog non stop to anyone I can corner? Because the blog has taken off -- almost a thousand hits a day (is the counter broken??, please say no...), and that doesn't count the number of times I check to see the counter (ok, all you other bloggers, you KNOW you do the same thing...). The real reason -- I just love you guys and am feeling great lately. My mom is doing well, my kid is reasonably well behaved (he's 16, enough said), and I JUST FEEL LIKE IT. What's the 2nd prize? A box of suprise goodies. So, clear off the mess on your desk, find your black and white and/or cream stuff and get stamping!! I'll provide details on my posted card in my next post. I think this one has gone on long enough! Note: folks are asking a lot of good questions in the comments. I am updating this post in red to respond to all questions! Here are some answers to some questions: 1. If you are on a Design Team for a papercrafting website or company and are reimbursed with product or cash, you are not eligible. If you are on a Design Team and are not reimbursed you are eligible. 2. To link to your card, go to the website where your card is and copy the browswer address. Go back to this website, post a link to this posting and go to Edit and then Paste. The address to your card should appear. I will go to it and cut and paste all over again to actually see your card. 3. The Mon Ami card I made with the Cuttlebug Textile folder (thanks sooo much for asking LOL) is a smidge smaller than a traditional 5 and 1/2 x 4 and 1/4 card. I had to do that because the Cuttlebug folders are not a true A2 card size (can someone explain why not????).

I used the Deer from A Beautiful Season, Black ink, white and black card stock, black/white gingham ribbon and a white eyelet.

Hope my entry is correct, and I followed all the rules!

  5. Joan... I'm slighly fuzzy on whether I'm to have instructions of used items on my posted photo here on your blog COMMENTS with my link to B&W card or it can be over on my blog/site with my card to qualify? Want to follow directions to the letter prior to my posting! *wink* No e-mail to make contact on your blog?!

  6. Hi Joan: At the encouragment of Smitty2004, I plan on entering a card and I will do so once I have written down all of the information but the reason for this post is....I would like to donate a card for an additional prize for the contest. It would either be for the winner or the 2nd place winner. When you see this card, you will see why....it is appropriate not only because it matches the black and white theme but because of the sentiment as well....I made it sometime back.

Let me know if you are interested and I will mail it to you along with the other little something I am preparing for you! Here it is:

I would like to enter your contest with my card, the link is at the bottom of my message.
I used stardust cardstock for the base card, layering it with Black Bazzill Bling. On top of that I used the elegance Cuttlebug folder to emboss on white Bazzill bling. I layered a piece of black Bazzill bling that I embossed with a Sizzix music note that I stamped with TAC snow white ink and a PSX stamp that says With Love. To the top I added a piece of black sheer ribbon (source unknown) threaded thru a pretty silver heart I bought at Walmart. I hope you like my card!http://www.picturetrail.com/members/edit?p=25

  79. WOW, there are a lot of entries to this contest. I feel almost sorry for the two of you and trying to choose a winner (or two)! I am so excited, though, because I now have my own Blog! Thanks for running the contest since it is what encouraged me to start my own blog. Here is my blog: http://moosisk.blogspot.com/
I hope this goes through since I am new at this. Good luck to all.
