Mailable Art

My husband and son returned yesterday from a vacation in South Texas -- visiting my in laws. While there, my teenage son said "Hey, let's go to the Museum of South Texas History." No one else wanted to go, but since they love Andy, they agreed to take him. No, they dragged his video game loving butt to the museum (Andy: "It wasn't the worst museum Dad has made me go to.") But, I digress. The point of this story, and all stories involving museums, is that the museum has a gift shop. Mike bought me this beautiful butterfly pin -- mounted on a card! The company is Mailable Art "A Pin to Give or to Wear." I've given pins as gifts but never thought to package them this way. Too cool so I thought I'd share.

  2. That card is very cool! I love that the pin is attached to the card and makes for a wonderful gift. That was very nice of your husband to think of you and buy it for you.

  3. My aunt got me one of these recently - I mean, not sure what the company was, but it was a pin on a very cool card -- I spent more time ogling the card than the pin on first pass! LOL. I love this idea too :)

  5. Joan, what a neat gift; I like the pin and the card! This kind of gift card reminds me of the many things that can be attached to cards that can be given as gifts: in this case pins, also tea bags and flower seeds. These last two ideas work great with kids for Mother's Day gifts. I'm sure many people have seen those kinds of cards, but it is fun to think of the card design to go with whatever item you are attaching! TFS.

  7. Joan, I'm new to the blogger world and I got your link from missmoochie lips. I love the card with the pin. I make beaded cards and this will be a new idea for me. Hope you don't mind me "borrowing" your the idea. I have some cards posted on my blog, which is a mixture of oddities. I may have to make some for a "giveaway". Great blog. Pat

  8. So many clever ideas out there. I wish I had more time in my days for creative interests!! I received your cards in the mail :) My husband brought the to Maine for me. Mothermark's card is seriously amazing in person. I leave it on my desk to give me a little boost if nothing's coming together for me :) Your card is amazing as well! My mom saw it in my stuff right away and said Did you make that?!! I told her I couldn't take credit for it, LOL, but it was fun because we ooh'd and awed'd over it for quite a while. I think we'll both be pulling out our glossy cardstock :)

  9. It's very cool and also very thoughtful. A friend recently gave me a brooch pinned to a card she'd made. 'Course the brooch was all big and chunky-bulky art nouveau and not the least bit mailable, but this is a great idea! Thanks for sharing. You just gave a bunch of people a super gift idea!
