Poor Thing Son

My order from Paperosity came today, chock full of Memory Box stamps!! I love this store and Karen is sooo easy to deal with. Thanks, Karen for the extra goodies!! I decided to break in Mr. Penguin to make a card for my Poor Thing Son. He started his first sort of real job last week. He is working in an office for 8 weeks this summer. Has to wear nice clothes, etc. Poor Thing Son's comments so far: "I'm in a cubicle with no window!" "Why did we move so far from the city, this commute is killing me." "I have to get up at 6!!" "It's boring being in an office all day." "I worked through lunch because it was interesting." Hey, welcome to my world!! And your Dad's and several hundred million other worker bees!! Anyway, I'll give this card to him tomorrow and wish him some happiness at his "job." Geesh, kids nowadays. Were we this lazy when we were 16??? Note: IRL the card and the images are not blurry!! Supplies Used: Memory Box Posey Penguin (wood) and clear Modern Elements for the little background flowers; Stampin Up Warm Words (I think, the stamp is out of the box); Memory Box Homespun collection (the green gingham) and Holly cardstock from Ellen Hutson's store; SU Black Cardstock and Basic Black ink; White gel pen; SU Real Red marker.

  1. He's so cute! I think some things may change around here soon and I might actually have some time to play in the near future! Glad you liked your goodies - can't wait to see what you make with them. :)

  3. HA HA HA! This post made me laugh, too! I have a daughter home from college and she is also working in an office from 7:30 - 4:30 everyday. It is killing her! She absolutely hates getting up so early and being gone all day...I keep telling her to "get used to it!" Thanks for the giggle. Cute card, too! I just love penguins!

  4. Adorable card. Didn't our kids get up really early to go to school? At the end of the day remind him there is a paycheck.

  6. what an adorable gingham penguin! I can see that we'll be seeing patterned animal cards all over the place now ;) I think I'll put that on my to-do idea list!

  7. Joan, the trip over here is always so worthwhile! You're such great entertainment! Poor Thing Son's grousing sounds pretty par for the course, I think. Interesting and funny that he does all that complaining and then says he worked through his lunch hour because it was interesting. Hmmmm...I think he betrayed himself. He'll appreciate your card. It's funny and cute and it'll cheer him up and on. Love that gingham penguin. Oh, and enjoy all your new stuff! Ain't it fun?

  8. Uhm, when we were 16 we weren't working in offices! We were at Burger King and the complaints were about sore feet and smelling like grease, not boredom! LOL.
