2 Cards 1 Stamp

Agreed to make 2 birthday cards for co-workers -- one for a woman and one for a guy. I tend to waste tons of paper and ink when I "have" to make a card. However, "girl" cards are easier. The second one is obviously for Jennifer -- simple but cute. I love the little stickles glitter on the frosting! I used a dimensional to raise the circle image and I think that gives it just that little something extra. Pink and green and white is such a refreshing color combo in the dog days of summer. The first card uses the stame stamp, and while it looks brown, the background paper is actually black, white and grey. I was plum out of ideas for a guy card, and just took some patterned paper and colored in some of the dots to match the red and yellow on the cupcake. I'm not sure how to jazz it up and still be appropriate for a man. Hope Ron likes it. I wonder if anyone at work will even notice that I used the same stamp? (They're lawyers...) I'd love to know how you come up with ideas. Do you start with a stamp, a color combo, an overall feeling? I knew I wanted to use this stamp and I wanted a simple effect, so the rest just evolved for the pink card. But, trying to make a masculine card really stumps me. How do you get from "need a card" to "love what I made"???

  1. I see that you stamped happy birthday on the girl card. How about doing the same on the top part of the guy card. HTH

  2. Usually color does it for me...that is where I start from. I tend to get hooked on a particular color and use it frequently. Certainly celery is one of my mainstays.

Thanks for commenting on my blog! Yours in linked as one of my favorites and I check it every couple days!

  3. Good question! I'll actually hafta analyze how I go about the process! I have a feeling I'll get long-winded, writing about it, so I'll spare ya', and post it at my blog, when I do figure it out. LOL! Meantime, it's a good thought-provoking question!
