Thank You Card

Here's another card I made using the same layout challenge from yesterday. Instead of using patterned papers, I decided to make my own. For the piece on the left I used the small harlequin stamp from Looks Like Spring (the stamp ma jig really works when lining up images!). I also used the stem from Bodacious Bouquet, a part of the 3 flower stamp from Looks Like Spring, and the dots from Simply Circles. I was trying to get that "coordinated, but different" look that home decorators are always achieving! Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink make a nice color combo, but the papers looked harsh, so I covered each with cardstock vellum. Using the Xyron to adhere vellum is so easy! No lines and super quick. I got the idea for using the vellum from Natasha -- check out her Palm Trees and Pogosticks blog (link on my list of must see places) and you'll see how she used this layout with vellum with amazing results!! I also laid a very small square of vellum on top of the flowers in the focal image. The result? Hmm. While I had a lot of fun designing this card and making all the little pieces, there is a reason why designers get paid to design patterned paper!! LOL Finally, I took a suggestion from a commenter on yesterday's card (Adelle) to use a spiral clip instead of a flower for the accent. Works like a, well, like a charm!! I think the clip would look better on yesterday's froggie, and the flower better on this card, but I'm having soo much fun stamping again that I'm not sweatin' the small stuff.
