Christmas Eve Day

December 24th has always been my favorite day of the year. There is a quiet anticipation to this day, a warmth, that just doesn't exist on any other day. More so than New Year's, it's the day I spend thinking about the past year and what the next year may bring. I always make a cheesecake from my Aunt Delores' recipe files, and a Polish crepe dish at night for my mom. My presents are all wrapped (except one that I just remembered!), and the house needs a thorough sprucing up. But, we will find time for a board game or two and just spend it together, listening to Christmas music. All month my family has been asking me what I really want for Christmas. In all honesty, I have everything I need and more. What I really want is beyond the power of my family. But, here goes: I want - my brothers, 49 and 57, to get clean and sober and come home and say good bye to our mother before she dies; - my mother to have peace; - my son to have friends; - my husband to be less anxious; - my inlaws to be healthier; and - time to take better care of of everyone I love.

  4. Those are my wishes for YOU as well. It's so refreshing to see someone thinking of others at a time of year that seems so "me, me, me" oriented. Merry Christmas, God bless you and may you have, above all, peace.
