Simple Stamping

We are not even going to discuss the amount of time I have spent thinking about this year's Christmas cards or the amount of money I have spent on Christmas stamps! I started back in May -- really. I made about 10 cards with Christmas Cardinal, painstakingly watercoloring each one. Then I made a few others with different sets, but as the summer ended I knew that I needed a design that was fast, but not too boring. Summer became Thanksgiving in the blink of an eye, and suddenly I was in full panic mode! Today, this design popped in my head, and before I could forget the design, I pulled out the supplies and mass produced my 2006 Christmas and Hannukah cards! I used Fabriano Medioevalis Stationery and Not Quite Navy ink (SU) for both cards. (Note: I purchased these cards from Starlit Studio on Ebay, where you can them in sets of 25). These cards come cut and scored, and the ones I used are smaller than your standard A2 card. The paper is a soft off white, with a faintly torn edge -- I tucked one card under some paper in order to get the card to lie flat for picture taking, so you miss seeing the edge. For the Christmas card, I used SU's Snowflakes and Perfect Endings. For the Hannukah card, I substituted the Star of David from SU's Hebrew Holidays for the snowflake. I thought about adding ribbon or perhaps a bit of glitter, but then I remembered that I still have to stamp the inside, sign, address, and mail the cards. Then, there are gifts to buy, wrap and mail, etc. Ribbon and glitter can wait for 2007. Speaking of 2007... I just signed up for the 2007 Christmas Card Challenge on splitcoast. Hope never dies!!

  1. They're beautiful - simple but elegant - a definite example of "less is more!" And congrats on stamping your cards - I *bought* cards for the first time in years.....

  3. I think they are beautiful and classic. I love the contrast of the white against the blue.

  4. These are just perfect, Joan! I had to laugh when I saw these on your blog today; I had used the same notecards on the next day's post and linked to Cindy too. I wasn't copying--hadn't had time to surf. We must have a Vulcan mind meld. . . [insert pointy-eared grin here] I love your covered bottles as well--great job!
