My SU Letter

Wow, I have limited access to a computer right now and cannot respond to everyone's thoughts right now. Thanks for sharing everyone of them. A couple of initial responses -- Re clear stamps -- good for you if you disagree withe me. I've just your average stamper with one opinion. I want to keep buying from SU and would be more likely to do so if I had a clear option, but no one died and elected me stamp czar. Re -- why SU? Good point. What is there about this company that engenders such strong feelings, both pro and con? Maybe because it is has been so dominant? Because it has demonstrators? Not sure. Would I write an open letter about another stamping company? Yes. The other reason I feel a bit impassioned is because I was a demo for SU and basically LOVE the company in many ways. One response to my earlier post was correct -- I want to buy their stuff but only on my terms! That's true. But, I'm guessing that's true for every company I buy from. Got to go, my time on this public computer is up!! More later! Thanks for engaging in this conversation. Someone wrote that I opened up a firestorm on Gingerwood. Unfortuntately I cannot access that site right now. I'll have to check in later.

  1. My Goodness Joan!
I knew as soon as I saw dini's post last night that this thread was going to be a BIGGIE. All it took was someone to post your letter to the thread and all ^&*%% breaks lose!! Just want to say let it all roll off your back, don't take anything to heart. Everyone has their own opinions, and you stated your opionion on your blog.
    Take care
    Leslie

  2. I happen to agree wholeheartedly - I like SU stamps as well but their sets have gotten a little expensive for my taste and I hate paying their outrageous shipping charges. There's no way they are losing money on shipping, I just don't buy it. I love the clear stamps and hope more companies will jump on that bandwagon. As for the Gingerwood firestorm, unfortunately Susan removed it.

  4. I guess you knew all along what you were doing. How convenient for you to "innocently" post your opinion on such a touchy subject, and then have one of your friends casually spread your words to other boards. You get to have all that attention. Which is what you crave the most.
    Attention.
    Such a pity.
    Get a life Joan

  6. It appears that Diana B has come to leave a comment here. She was the one who derailed a perfectly civil discussion about your letter on the GW board this morning. She kept accusing people of "wanting attention" by discussing this issue. She uses some of the same words there that she used in what appears to be her comment here.

  7. The thread was removed this afternoon. I caught a whiff of it. Could have been a decent discussion, but for one person who started a rant. Open opinion sharing can be very healthy. I went to the blog of the lady who posted the thread to get people to read your letter. I left a message that I was happy the whole thread had been removed and what a shame. Funny how people come there and frequently ask opinions of different companies without a problem. Oh well. Hope you had a pleasant trip. Look forward to more blog sharing from you.

  10. One of many reasons that I visit your blog daily is your honest, sincere, fresh opinion. I have never gotten the sense that you do more than express your own opinion on your own blog and encourage others to express their opinions or do further research. I was glad you posted your letter (I agreed with many points) because it alerted me to a way to save money (yeah, as a novice stamper, I had the shimmery white paper at the top of my wish list). Now I am aware of places where I can get the same quality of paper at a less expensive cost, helping out my budget, which in turn, frees me to buy other SU products at which they excel or are more exclusive. Thanks for opening the discussion, and for being a good role model when it comes to standing up in what you believe in. Now, to just find out if I can get the other specialty papers (brushed gold, copper, silver) at same quality/cheaper price....or if SU is my best bet.
